Why Are My Hips So Tight?

Feeling stiff or tight in your hips? I feel you. That deep, annoying tightness that makes sitting uncomfortable, workouts feel stiff, and even walking a little off—I’ve been there more times than I can count, especially after two ACL surgeries. But trust me, there’s a way to heal and release it, and I’m here to help you do just that.

Okay, So Why Are My Hips So Tight?

  • Sitting too much – Whether it’s at a desk, in the car, or on the couch, too much sitting keeps your hip flexors locked in a shortened position.

  • Lack of movement – When we don’t move our hips through their full range, they tighten up over time.

  • Overtraining – Running, cycling, and even strength training can create tension if we’re not balancing them with proper stretching.

  • Poor posture – Slouching or standing with bad alignment puts extra stress on the hips.

  • Stress & emotions – Believe it or not, your hips store tension from stress, anxiety, and even past trauma.

  • Weak glutes & core – When these muscles aren’t doing their job, the hips work overtime and get stiff.

The truth is, our hips do so much more than just help us move. They’re a powerhouse of energy, stability, and emotion. Yep, all that stress, tension, and overwhelm gets stored deep in your hips. When our hips are tight, we can feel stuck—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. That’s why I designed this deep stretch yoga flow—to help you release, open, and move with ease. Commit yourself to this weekly practice and build a stretching ritual for yourself. Watch what happens to you physically and emotionally throughout the course of the series. You’ll be unrecognizable.
