Capital One Supplier Diversity Program Graduation

In January, I was informed that Rooted in Radiance was chosen to participate in Capital One's Supplier Diversity Mentorship Program! I was ecstatic! This program is designed to empower Black and Latinx business owners by providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and guidance to thrive in today's competitive marketplace.

Capital Oneā€™s Supplier Diversity Mentoring Program is part of Capital Oneā€™s Impact Initiative, a $200 million, five-year commitment to support growth in underserved communities and advance socioeconomic mobility, the supplier diversity mentoring program aims to accelerate the success of small business owners to create more jobs, strengthen the local economy and move our society toward a more equitable future.

In the program, entrepreneurs are paired with Capital One associates who work together to develop sustainable business models that drive consistent growth, profitability, and key operational metrics.

Radiance Basden and Kris Worrell

Radiance Basden and Kris Worrell Capital One Graduation

I had the privilege of being mentored by Kris Worrell, a remarkable individual in Enterprise Supplier Management. The connection I established with Kris was truly invaluable. He played a crucial role in guiding me towards innovative approaches to position Rooted in Radiance effectively, particularly when engaging with decision makers. Not only did Kris excel at keeping me focused and motivated, but our conversations also provided a sense of warmth and genuine connection. It was an honor to reciprocate the support and contribute to Kris's overall well-being as well.

transformed for the better

Since starting the program, Rooted in Radiance began to be transformed for the better. We made changes in three key areas: organization and processes, confidence, and positioning.

Firstly, we streamlined our organization and processes to improve efficiency and productivity. This has enabled us to deliver better results and provide faster turnaround times for our clients.

Secondly, we worked on building confidence within our team. By focusing on professional development and training, we have increased our expertise and knowledge, which has boosted our confidence in our abilities and helped us to better serve our clients.

Finally, we have repositioned ourselves in the market to better meet the needs of our target audience. Through market research and analysis, we have identified key areas where we can add value and differentiate ourselves from our competitors. As a result, we are better positioned to provide tailored solutions that address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by our clients.

2024 vision

Capital One asked us about our 2024 Vision and I decided to shoot my shot!

Our vision:
Establish a yearly partnership with Capital One to promote and support the overall well-being of their employees. In saying that, I look forward to working on my 2024 vision and becoming a diverse supplier with Capital One.

a space for gratitude

This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our team, partners, and the incredible mentorship provided by Capital One. Thank you all for being a part of our success and for believing in our vision.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make strides in the business world, making a positive impact on our community and beyond!
