history of “check in, are you hydrated”

This was initially a “drink water” campaign (think of a remix to “got milk?”) with my dear friend Staley at the onset of Coronavirus, but then it really got me thinking about it in a broader spectrum. Essentially, it’s more of “remember to stay hydrated” and not just your physical thirst, but also emotional thirst, mental thirst, spiritual thirst, alla dat!

When Staley and I originally started, it was fun and games, but I realized I enjoyed taking these photos so much. It helped me feed my creativity and look for the beauty in the simplicity of things, even a glass.  Also it gave me the freedom to use my creativity to impress 1) myself and 2) each person I sent the photo to.

All in all, my physical cup had to be full in order to send out the picture. In addition, my emotional cup was also filled when I sent them, because I genuinely enjoyed hydrating and reminding others to also.

So when I sent the pictures, it would come with a gentle reminder of Is your cup full?
What areas in your life do you need to hydrate with some self care? And then fill your cup.

So boom. There it is. Enjoy the slideshow of photos I took back in 2020 and I hope it makes you so thirsty that you’re craving water!

Thank you for embracing my love of creativity and community. And a super big thank you to all who hold me accountable to fill my cup in all areas of my life.

Closing thoughts:
Are you filling your cup?
Just like water is essential, a healthy spirit is too.
If you’re thirsty, you’re ashy.

Are you ashy?
