I’ve been through it, you’ve been through it, we’ve all been through it. 5 years ago, I went on a sabbatical traveling the world learning through different cultures and talking to different people to rediscover a new way to overcome stress and burnout.
Five years ago…
…I embarked on a transformative sabbatical, journeying through the heart of Africa. From the bustling markets of Ghana to the tranquil shores of Zanzibar, and the historic landscapes of Ethiopia, each step was a revelation, an unwinding of the tightly coiled stress that systematic racism had imprinted on my psyche. This odyssey wasn't just a personal awakening; it was the seed of a mission. As I joined the ranks of the Great Resignation, stepping away from a corporate world that often overlooked the well-being of its Black women, I vowed to forge a new path.
Upon my return, I carried with me not just memories, but a blueprint for healing. It was clear that the journey to wellness was not one to be walked alone. Thus, our company's wellness programs were born, rooted in the understanding that radical rest and cultural immersion can be powerful antidotes to burnout. These programs stand as a testament to a belief that every individual deserves to find peace and purpose, to emerge from the shadows of stress and into the light of holistic well-being. This is more than a company initiative; it's a personal crusade, a narrative woven from my story, shared by many, and offered with hope to all who seek respite and renewal.
