This summer, we invite you to reconnect with your mind and body in nature through Soul Salutations, a transformative 10-week outdoor sunset yoga series held in historic Anacostia National Park.
Soul Salutations is a multi-week outdoor fitness and mindfulness series actively promoting community health, encouraging the adoption of healthy lifelong habits, and helping alleviate the economic burden associated with mental health and chronic diseases.

The landscape of Anacostia National Park provides the perfect backdrop for Soul Salutations. Nestled along the Anacostia River, the park's 1,200 acres of greenery, trails, and waterfront views offer a gentle escape from the DC’s hustle and bustle.

Building Community Through Wellness
Community is at the heart of Soul Salutations. In Wards 7 and 8, there is a pressing need for equitable and accessible wellness programming. Existing solutions often fail to address the unique needs of communities of color, leaving intergenerational health concerns unaddressed. Soul Salutations aims to bridge this gap by offering a welcoming space where all are invited to come together, heal, and grow.
Our series features soulful and iconic artists, thematic classes, and curated playlists that celebrate cultural richness creating a sense of oneness and belonging. Through local partnerships, we aim to create a vibrant community network that supports holistic well-being and lifelong healthy habits.
Movement for Mind and Body
Movement is medicine. Yoga, in particular, is a holistic practice that nurtures both the body and the mind. Each Soul Salutations session includes a blend of yoga postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), affirmations, and meditation designed to reduce stress and enhance flexibility and mindfulness. This series is an invitation to move with intention, breathe deeply, and cultivate inner calm. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or a curious beginner, our classes are tailored to meet you where you are, encouraging you to explore your practice in a supportive and inclusive environment.
About the Curator: Radiance Basden
Soul Salutations is curated by Radiance Basden, a trailblazing well-being consultant and yoga instructor dedicated to mental, spiritual, and physical wellness. As a Hall of Fame runner and wellness expert, Radiance collaborates with renowned brands and local entities, including lululemon, Mental Health America, and the DC government. Her mission is to amplify underrepresented voices and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in health and well-being.
